Can we use translation services like Google Translate?
Imaginatik has internally evaluated support for real-time translation, and has also collaborated with clients in these evaluations. We’ve discovered that real-time translations aren’t yet satisfactory, as they do not accurately translate ideas the way they’re intended. Oftentimes, ideas are submitted as incomplete sentences and as fragments of concepts. In addition, ideas very often include company specific information, company jargon or “slang,”and technical information, which render accurate translations difficult.
ets”and/or leverage crowd ideation to competitively identify “winning ideas,” accuracy should be critical. In addition to the above, we’ve also heard client concerns as it relates to security risks in exposing confidential client data to Google servers.
When should I use specific local languages vs. using the common business language at our company?
We recommend you use the global, common business language at your company when using Innovation Central across geographies. This way, the majority of global participants can read all ideas, comments etc. Additionally, the global review team members will be able to review all ideas effectively. Local language is appropriate when using Innovation Central within a local geography, and where most participants speak only the local language.
Should you need to use a variety of languages, you do need to consider the implications on collaboration among participants and on the review team as ideas are read and evaluated. In some cases where multiple languages have been used, the project team assigns someone to translate all local language ideas and comments and submit them into the global instance of Innovation Central. If this is necessary, just remember to recruit the resources & assign the tasks in your overall project planning.
