An Innovation Central “Instance” is the entire environment in which a challenge is run. An Instance is one full copy of Innovation Central, supporting the innovation process from initial launch of ideation through to final conclusion of each idea. Innovation Central Instances are meant to be repurposed. Once a challenge is completed, the ideas and associated content (i.e., comments, reviews, etc.) are moved to the Warehouse in an archiving process. The Instance is then ready to be used for the next challenge.

Companies often have several Innovation Central instances, often managed by separate Innovation Central Consultants. Configuration access through Special Roles are limited to the current instance, including your role as Innovation Central Consultant.

Every instance is organized into the following Spaces, represented by tabs:

Collaborate Space

Typically the starting place for most visitors to the challenge, the Collaborate Space has a description of the challenge and links to create new Ideas and browse existing Ideas at a minimum, but may also include spotlight or top-rated ideas, as well as links to other collaboration tools and information.

Personal Space

A space tailored to each individual user, providing links to their contributions (i.e. ideas and comments) to the challenge and personal settings. For users who have access to multiple events, this space only includes data from the current challenge.

Review Space

All functionality related to reviews are included in this space, viewable only by those with the Reviewer, Master Reviewer, and Review Team leader Special Roles.

Reports

Access to all challenge reporting, including Innovation Analytics, this space is only available to those with the Administrator or one of the Review roles as assigned in Special Roles.

Archive Space

Access to Ideas that have been archived within the Instance, as opposed to those archived to the Warehouse. This space may be available to all users, those with the Administrator role only, or hidden entirely depending on settings in the Admin Space. The Archive Space is usually reserved for special use cases, not a standard challenge.

Admin Space

Where all configuration for the challenge is managed. This space is only accessible to those with the Administrator role. This guide is designed to provide assistance with the configuration options available in the Admin Space.

Admin Space Dashboard

The starting point in the Admin Space is the Dashboard, as shown below:

This provides a snapshot of the Admin Space tasks, including the date and name of the last person to make changes to each section, and a status indicator. A green check mark in the Status column indicates the section has been set up and a red “disabled” label indicates the item has not been set up or was intentionally disabled.
