Engaging and Inspiring Others to Act
As you consider communicating your challenge, think about the individual people invited:
- What are the key messages that will be meaningful to the audience?
- What do people know about the topic today?
- Are people already aware of the business issue/goal covered by the challenge, or do they need a richer context to be effective?
- What do people know about virtual collaboration today?
- What’s in it for the participants?
- Who will be helping to communicate? Leaders?
- What tools can we use to effectively communicate? (Posters, intranet, break rooms, elevator signs, cookies with a note to participate)
- Will your approach grab attention and break through the daily “noise”?
Consider what happens in the company right now for best practices and lessons learned in your own environment:
- Where do people naturally gather?
- What types of recent communication efforts have been effective?
- Is there a formal communications channel that works well?
- Is there a communications team who might have fresh ideas?
